Grain de Sail III will be a fully wind-powered cargo yacht (excluding port maneuvers and fairway), with a maximum air draft of 62.50 m and 4000 m2 of sail area with retractable daggerboards. An Atlantic crossing in around 13 days!
Carbon footprint reduction of over 90%, with emissions of between 1 and 2 grams of CO2/ton transported per km traveled (10 to 20 times less than the current fleet of conventional ships).
Development of very large rigid sails on 3 masts capable of sail plan reduction(reefing). SOLID SAIL type rig optimized for a pure cargo sailboat of this size (light to very strong winds).
Grain de Sail III has been designed to be an almost passive cargo sailboat, with guaranteed on-board energy production(high insulation + powerful hydrogeneration technologies + wood pellet boiler).
